Doris Leuthard, President of the Swiss Confederation and head of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs paid a visit to Shanghai Expo today to celebrate the Swiss National Pavilion Day, as well as the 60 year anniversary of bilateral relations between Switzerland and China. On September 14th, Shanghai’s Lupu Bridge will be illuminated by the world renowned Swiss light artist Gerry Hofstetter. “The Lupu Bridge is one of Shanghai’s landmarks, and it is also just beside the Swiss Pavilion” said President Leuthard, “We chose to illuminate this bridge as a symbol of the bridge of communications between Switzerland and China, and as a celebration of the close friendship between the people of our two countries.”
Today, the management of the Swiss Pavilion also kicked off the sales of the red solar cells in the Pavilion’s façade, which will be delivered to the buyers after the Shanghai Expo. The solar cell highlights the “environmental influences” around the Swiss Pavilion, and reminds visitors of the unused energy all around them.
